Meta is eliminating approximately 600 positions in its artificial intelligence (AI) unit as the tech giant continues to restructure.
According to reports, some employees have been placed on a “non-working notice period” until their termination on Nov. 21.
“During this time, your internal access will be removed and you do not need to do any additional work for Meta,” reads a message to affected staff that was viewed by CNBC.
“You may use this time to search for another role at Meta.”
Meta added that it will provide 16 weeks of severance pay — plus two weeks for every completed year of service, “minus your notice period.”
It remains unclear if any Canadian employees at Meta are being let go.
According to LinkedIn, the company currently has more than 1,100 workers in the country.
