Sarah Wynn-Williams claimed that Meta threatened her with a fine of USD 50,000 in punitive damages for speaking up.
Sarah Wynn-Williams, an ex-top executive at Meta, has made serious allegations against the company, accusing it of having ties with China and compromising with US national security.
According to Wynn-Williams, Meta executives did not only allow the Chinese Communist Party to access the user data including that of Americans, but also worked with them to develop AI tools which helped China in gaining control over the online content.
Her remarks came while she was giving testimony during a congressional hearing headed by Senator Josh Hawley. “I saw Meta executives repeatedly undermine US national security and betray American values," she said, as per CBS News.
She alleged Meta “worked hand in glove with Beijing."
Wynn also claimed that Llama, Meta’s AI model was used for assisting the Chinese AI company DeepSeek.
Lashing out at Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg for allegedly working with China to create censorship tools, she said, “The greatest trick Mark Zuckerberg ever pulled was wrapping the American flag around himself and calling himself a patriot and saying he didn’t offer services in China, while he spent the last decade building an $18 billion business there."
Wynn also claimed that Meta threatened her with a fine of USD 50,000 in punitive damages for speaking up.
Meta, however, refuted all such claims and said that the company don’t carry out operations in China...
