More than a dozen members of Congress, a coalition of state attorneys general, and Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen urged the US Supreme Court to limit the scope of a foundational internet law that for two decades has shielded online platforms from lawsuits over content created by their users.
The requests are among dozens of friend-of-the-court briefs submitted as of Wednesday in the upcoming case Gonzalez v. Google LLC, which asks the justices to clarify the bounds of the legal immunity provided by Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act.
