WASHINGTON (TNND) — The Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Privacy, Technology, and the Law held a hearing Tuesday afternoon, examining whistleblower allegations that Meta buried child safety research. Two former Meta Researchers, Jason Sattizahn ad Cayce Savage appeared on Capitol Hill, accusing the tech giant of suppressing internal research on child safety.
I am here today because it is evident that Meta consistently chooses profit over safety," said Sattizahn. "Meta has failed to prioritize child safety until they are scrutinized by outside regulators," Savage said in her opening statement.
First reported by the Washington Post, Sattizahn and Savage, along with other whistleblowers, disclosed their findings to Congress.
Claiming Meta manipulated virtual reality research that showed children being exposed to grooming, sexual harassment and violence.
