Concord, NH – Attorney General John M. Formella announces that Dorabela Medeiros, age 42, of Methuen, Massachusetts, has been indicted for theft, attempted unemployment fraud, and Medicaid fraud in connection with fraudulent claims for personal care services.
On April 11, 2023, the Merrimack County Grand Jury indicted Medeiros on charges of Theft by Deception, Attempt to Commit Unemployment Fraud, Medicaid Fraud – False Claims, and Medicaid Fraud – False Records.
The indictments allege that between March 1, 2022 and August 31, 2022, Medeiros, pursuant to one scheme or course of conduct, created false documentation and caused false claims for payment of personal care services to be filed, resulting in Medeiros obtaining more than $1,500.00 in Medicaid funds. Thereafter, between August 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022, Medeiros omitted a material fact from an application for unemployment benefits, and the amount of the benefit she would have fraudulently received as a result of the misrepresentation would have exceeded $1,000.00 in value.
During that timeframe, Medeiros is alleged to have been employed by two Medicaid service providers to provide personal care services to a single Medicaid member. Medeiros...
