Dienstag, 24.03.2026

The MIA has released new guidance to support the business events sector in preparing for major employment law reforms taking effect from 2026. The publication provides an overview of key legislative changes and their implications for employers.

Developed in partnership with WorkNest, the guide from the Meetings Industry Association (MIA) focuses on reforms introduced through the Employment Rights Act 2025, which received Royal Assent in December 2025. It outlines changes scheduled for April and October 2026, as well as further developments planned for 2027, including the introduction of a Fair Work Agency, day-one statutory sick pay, restrictions on ‘fire and rehire’ practices, extended tribunal time limits and strengthened harassment prevention requirements.

Practical guidance for employers in the events sector

The document provides practical insight into how organisations can prepare for the new regulatory framework and adapt internal processes. It is intended to help employers manage compliance while maintaining operational stability. According to the association, the guidance is designed to offer clarity on complex legal developments and support early preparation across the industry. In addition to the public version, members of the Meetings Industry Association receive extended materials, including detailed action points and compliance checklists for each reform.
