Michigan Officials Escape Most Claims Over Lead-Tainted Water - Bloomberg Law

Most federal, state, and city officials escaped claims that they knew about unsafe lead levels in the water in Benton Harbor, Mich., yet did nothing to notify residents of the dangers, after a Thursday ruling.

But Michael O’Malley, the former manager of the city’s Water Department, and Mayor Marcus Muhammad must still face substantive due process claims, Chief Judge Hala Y. Jarbouof the US District Court for the Western District of Michigan said, refusing to adopt Magistrate Judge Phillip J. Green’s recommendations.
