It will be possible to report corruption not only to the commander, but also to choose the reporting channel — what the Government proposes.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has registered Draft Law No. 15573 in the Verkhovna Rada, aiming to strengthen the rights and protective guarantees for military personnel who report potential corruption or corruption-related offences.
The document proposes amendments to the Disciplinary Statute of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to ensure its provisions align with anti-corruption legislation and the Law of Ukraine "On National Security of Ukraine."
Changes for Military Personnel
The draft law seeks to more clearly define the status of a military whistleblower. This refers to service personnel who, in connection with their military service, become aware of potential acts of corruption, corruption-related offences, or other breaches of the Law "On Prevention of Corruption."
Such whistleblowers will be covered not only by the guarantees outlined in the Disciplinary Statute but also by other rights and protective guarantees established by the Law of Ukraine "On Prevention of Corruption."
Furthermore, military whistleblowers may receive incentives in accordance with the requirements of Section II of the Disciplinary Statute.
