ROSEMONT, Ill. (WTVO) — A reported possible kidnapping in the northwest Chicago suburb of Rosemont early Monday was determined to be unfounded after police said a missing Chicago child made false claims about being thrown from a vehicle.

According to Rosemont police, officers initially responded after reports that a child had been thrown from a car near the Loews Chicago O'Hare Hotel, located at 5300 N. River Road near Foster Avenue. Emergency dispatch traffic early Monday prompted concerns that the incident may have involved an abduction.

However, a subsequent investigation determined that the child was a missing juvenile from Chicago who had arrived at the hotel and began making what police described as "unverified claims."

Police said surveillance video showed the child was picked up at O'Hare International Airport and transported by shuttle bus to the hotel after telling the driver that a parent was waiting there. Investigators later confirmed the child's claim that he had been tossed from a vehicle was false.

"The juvenile was picked up at O'Hare Airport and driven in a shuttle bus to Loews Hotel, telling the driver a parent was waiting at the hotel for him," Rosemont police said in a statement. "What he told others was that he was tossed from a vehicle (which has been proven to be false)."

The child was later reunited with his mother, according to police. Authorities said information gathered during the investigation was turned over to the Chicago Police Department...
