Missouri minimum wage rate set at $12.30 for 2024 | State News ... - KOMU 8

COLUMBIA The Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations announced Tuesday the state minimum wage rate for 2024. According to state law, the new wage is set at $12.30 per hour, effective Jan. 1.

Following the November 2018 approval of Proposition B, the minimum wage increased by 85 cents per hour each year through 2023.

Beginning Jan. 1, the minimum wage might increase or decrease each year depending on the cost-of-living changes reflected in the Consumer Price Index.

All private businesses are required to pay at least the $12.30 hourly rate, with the exception of retail and service businesses whose gross annual sales are less than $500,000.

The minimum wage law doesn't apply to public employers and doesn't allow the state's minimum wage rate to be lower than the federal minimum wage rate.

Additionally, compensation for tipped employees must total at least $12.30 per hour. Employees are required to pay tipped employees at least 50% of the minimum wage, plus any amount necessary to bring the employee's compensation to a minimum of $12.30 per hour.
