Missouri's minimum wage earners will get a boost in 2026 | Here's how much - KMBC

Missouri employees earning minimum wage will get a boost in the new year.

The minimum wage will increase by more than $1 in 2026, rising from $13.75 to $15. This is the second year in a row that Missouri has seen a $1.25 wage increase.

This increase also makes Missouri’s minimum wage more than double the federal minimum wage, which is $7.25.

Missouri businesses will be required to pay tipped employees at least $7.50 — 50% of the minimum wage — plus any amount needed to ensure employees earn a minimum of $15 an hour. Overtime wages must be at least one and a half times an employee's regular rate.

Gov. Mike Kehoe signed House Bill 567 into law in July 2025, modifying previous provisions relating to Missouri's minimum wage. The previous law, approved by voters in November 2024 as "Proposition A," called for automatic adjustments based on inflation each year beginning in 2027.

HB 567 repealed those automatic adjustments, as well as the requirement to offer one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours worked, which was also approved under "Proposition A."

Retail or service businesses in Missouri whose annual gross income is less than $500,000 do not have to pay the state minimum wage rate.

Missouri employees who believe they are not being paid the correct wages can file a minimum wage complaint here.
