Monroe County, N.Y. – The Monroe County Legislature has "banned the box" and passed the county's Fair Chance Employment Act.
This bans county job applications from asking about criminal history.
Legislators voted during Tuesday's full legislature meeting. The vote count was 20 to 9.
Legislature President Sabrina Lamar said the law will help fill about 800 vacant jobs.
