More than 300 Jefferson County employees finally paid after county budget bill is signed into law - Yahoo

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders put pen to paper Monday, signing into a law a bill that would force Jefferson County to operate based on its previous year’s budget until a new budget was passed.

Since then, Jefferson County employees have been eagerly waiting to see if and when their paycheck, which they’ve been waiting more than a month for, would finally come through.

The Jefferson County Clerk’s Office confirmed that all county employees were paid before the end of business day on Tuesday.

“When you show up to a job every day you expect compensation when payday rolls around,” Jefferson County employee Elizabeth Vanhousen said.

Vanhousen said it’s been a very emotional journey for her.

“My boys have asked me repeatedly, have you gotten paid yet? When are you getting paid? Momma? I need this, and I don’t have an answer for them,” Vanhousen said.

Vanhousen is a single mother of three boys and she said she is relieved to go home and finally tell them their mom was paid.

“I feel like I’m still raw from, from it all,” Vanhousen said.
