Mulimba Urges Muhoozi to Open Whistleblower Desk over Corruption Claims - ChimpReports

Outgoing State Minister for Regional Cooperation John Mulimba has called on Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba to establish a secure whistleblowing desk for reporting alleged corruption linked to former Speaker Anita Among, while also demanding investigations into alleged bribery within the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Speaking while addressing journalists, Mulimba said individuals implicated in corruption should “face the full force of the law” and accused senior figures within the NRM of enabling impunity through wealth and political influence.

“All those who are implicated face the full force of law,” Mulimba said. “Where people have amassed wealth, they accept that they have a lot of impunity, they have corrupted all those who did not keep us, and they are doing all what they want to do.”

Mulimba pointed to the recent election of workers’ representatives to parliament, alleging that senior NRM officials undermined the party’s official flag bearer.

“We expected the second national chairperson of NRM and the national treasurer to protect the flag-bearer, woman MP Hon. Lillian,” he said. “Instead, the second national vice-chairperson, who is Anita Among, and the national treasurer of NRM, Amb. Barbara Nekesa Oundo, dissented on Kunihira.”

He further alleged that money was distributed to influence the vote.

“They disputed about 20 million per voter, and brought it down,” Mulimba said.
