Multi-employer bargaining will raise “tricky” issues for competition law, former competition chief Rod Sims says, as businesses are set to gain new powers to come together on pay and stop competitors undercutting them.
The Albanese government’s new multi-employer agreements, set to pass parliament this week, will be exempt from competition law under a broad and long-standing carve-out of employment conditions and industrial relations.
