Mum died in drug recovery house with no recorded visit to her for nine days - Lancs Live

The family of a mum who was staying in a rehab home in a bid to get clean from drugs have voiced their anger at those tasked with looking after her.

Danielle Patrice Jacques had been staying in one of 32 houses operated by Lytham St Annes-based New Beginnings. The community interest company, which has 12 properties in Chorley including the one in Brook Street where Dani lived, provides recovery housing for people with addiction issues.

Staff at New Beginnings were alerted to concerns for Dani's welfare on September 21 last year with records later showing no visit to the house had been made in the previous nine days. This was despite a support worker being set to visit twice a week. When they gained access to 37-year-old Dani's room they found her dead on the bed surrounded by packets of medication.

An inquest held on Tuesday (February 28) at Preston Coroner's Court heard evidence from the managing director of New Beginnings, Dale Mordlock, who explained that the primary purpose of the firm is to provide housing to help people get a foot on the property ladder and to help them to find stability. He said: We're a housing provider that delivers support to help people move into independent living."
