7th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) In the wake of CoCo Lee’s tragic passing in July last year, her sister Nancy Lee has been embroiled in controversy, facing unfounded accusations from internet users who claimed she mistreated her sister and linked her death to Nancy’s actions. This online harassment prompted Nancy to take legal action to protect her reputation.

On 6th January, Nancy publicly expressed her anguish, revealing that shortly after her sister’s death, she was subjected to malicious and fabricated allegations that suggested she bore some responsibility for CoCo’s demise. “These claims are entirely baseless and maliciously concocted,” she asserted, emphasising the deep bond she shared with her sister and her role in supporting CoCo through numerous pivotal moments in her life.

The court has now ruled in Nancy’s favour, ordering the perpetrators of the online slander to publicly apologise and compensate her for the emotional distress caused. The judgement stipulates that the individuals must issue a public apology on their social media profiles within ten days and pay a total of 40,000 RMB for damages and legal costs.

In her statement, Nancy reflected on the pain such accusations would have caused CoCo, stating, “If my sister knew of these appalling slanders against her beloved sister, she would undoubtedly be heartbroken.
