Nashville mayor responds to TBI raid on law firm investigating whistleblower claims - WZTV

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Nashville Mayor Freddie O'Connell is responding to concerns over the TBI raid on the law firm tasked with conducting an independent investigation into whistleblower claims.

Word of the search warrant executed on the Butler Snow law firm led to outrage by the Metro Community Review Board, on Monday, and fears the firm's investigation could be compromised.

"It does more than stink," said Community Review Board member Alisha Haddock. "I don't even know what's worse than 'stinking' as it pertains to being transparent and accountable to the people of Nashville, Davidson County."

The Community Review Board sent a letter to the mayor, exclusively obtained by FOX 17 News, of the bombshell development, expressing "deep concern."

"The unprecedented nature of this action raises serious questions about the status of the investigation and the rationale behind the state's intervention," the letter stated.

The city hired Butler Snow attorneys to investigate a 61-page whistleblower complaint, made by former Metro Police lieutenant Garet Davidson. One of the allegations was that top brass at MNPD worked to help pass a new state law diminishing the power of police oversight boards in Tennessee, like the Community Review Board.
