Nathan Fletcher announced Wednesday night he will resign from his seat as District 4 County Supervisor as he faces a lawsuit from a former Metropolitan Transit System employee accusing him of sexual assault and harassment.
Fletcher announced his resignation in a press release, citing "immense and unbearable strain" on his wife and family over the last week.
Fletcher started the week by announcing he was terminating his campaign for State Senate so he could seek treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder and alcohol abuse. Fletcher resigned as MTS chair Tuesday night, the same day the lawsuit was filed in San Diego Superior Court.

A stunning fall for grace for County Supervisor Fletcher, who, until Tuesday, was on the MTS board, reports NBC 7's Priya Sridhar.
“The strain on my wife and family over this past week has been immense and unbearable," Fletcher's statement reads, in part. "A combination of my personal mistakes plus false accusations has created a burden that my family shouldn’t have to bear. I will be resigning from the Board of Supervisors, effective at the end of my medical leave. I will focus solely on getting healthy and being a good husband, father and friend."
