National Tax Service: 4 Billion Won Reward for Real Estate Tax Evasion Reports - 조선일보

The National Tax Service urged the public on the 9th to actively participate in reporting real estate tax evasion, with rewards of up to 4 billion Korean won being offered. The National Tax Service pays rewards of up to 4 billion Korean won based on the amount of evaded taxes if a whistleblower submits critical evidence leading to a tax investigation and the evaded taxes of at least 50 million Korean won are collected.

Mr. A, who reported a case where someone evaded transfer income tax by inflating necessary expenses through a fake service contract while transferring land, received approximately 100 million Korean won. At the time, the National Tax Service confirmed the false expense claims based on bank transaction records and contracts submitted by the whistleblower and collected hundreds of millions of Korean won in transfer taxes.

Mr. B, who reported a case where someone received funds from their parents to purchase a house but failed to report the gift tax, was awarded 60 million Korean won. The National Tax Service verified the source of the housing acquisition funds based on court documents submitted by the whistleblower and successfully collected hundreds of millions of Korean won in gift taxes.

Mr. C reported a case where a multiple-homeowner disguised themselves as a single-homeowner by falsely relocating a household member before transferring a property, thereby evading taxes. Mr. C received 30 million Korean won for this contribution.
