Ndia MP dismisses rigging claims in Mbeere North by-election - People Daily

Ndia Member of Parliament (MP) George Kariuki has strongly criticised opposition leaders for claiming that the Mbeere North by-election was rigged, saying the allegations are mere excuses from losers unwilling to accept the people’s verdict.

Speaking on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at St. Faith ACK Mutinu Church in Ndia, Kariuki urged the opposition to honestly evaluate where they went wrong instead of creating stories after being defeated. He insisted that anyone with genuine concerns should follow the legal route and challenge the results in court.

“If you believe there was a problem, go to court. Stop misleading Kenyans with false claims just because you lost,” Kariuki said.

He praised Mbeere North MP-elect Leo Wamuthende, saying his victory reflected the clear will of the people, who voted to remain aligned with the government to secure development.

“The people of Mbeere North spoke loudly and clearly. They want development, and they chose a leader who is working with the government,” he stated.

According to him, residents were fully aware of ongoing government programmes and projects across the country, an awareness he believes contributed significantly to the ruling side’s win in the by-election.
