NEET UG 2025: Over 120 fake accounts flagged by NTA on Instagram, Telegram - India Today

Only a few days prior to the NEET UG 2025 test, the National Testing Agency (NTA) asked Instagram and Telegram to delete more than 120 accounts making false claims regarding a paper leak.

106 Telegram channels and 16 Instagram handles were discovered to be making false claims of access to the question paper, NTA sources stated.

These channels were reported by the Suspicious Claims Reporting Portal, which the NTA initiated on April 26. The portal enables members of the public to report suspicious claims and activities associated with the exam.

The NTA added that it has also filed these cases with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Both Telegram and Instagram have been asked to not only delete the accounts but also provide details of the individuals operating them. Legal action will be taken.

The NEET UG 2025 test is on May 4. It will be conducted in over 5,000 centres of over 550 cities in India.

Students and parents have been advised by the authorities not to fall prey to any leak-related rumours or posts. "These groups are misleading aspirants and creating confusion," an NTA spokesperson stated.

The agency alerted people that circulation or belief in such false information has severe repercussions under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act. The act entails stringent punishments against those convicted.
