Dear Majority Leader Schumer, Speaker McCarthy, and Members of U.S. Congress:
We, the undersigned, are a coalition of organizations representing people of faith across religious traditions and denominations. A common thread for all of our faith communities is their commitment to advancing policies that enable all of God’s children to care for their families, thrive in their communities, and contribute to our society. A cornerstone of that commitment is respect for workers, especially low wage workers who provide the basic services that we all depend on for both our own well-being and a strong economy. We look to our political leaders to use their power to join with the faithful in making basic respect for workers a reality. Congress will face important legislation in the coming months to provide workers and their families with fundamental tools that they need to live in dignity and security. We call upon the 118th Congress to join the faith community in support of these measures.
Specifically, it is imperative that Congress enact three bills that offer workers and their families a basic floor of protection. First, we urge passage of the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, H.R. 20 and S. 567.
