New platform to help the public understand their legal rights in work-injury scenarios
A new online resource based on Hong Kong's Employees' Compensation Ordinance is now available for public access.
The platform, known as the "Work Injury Occupation and Injury Compensation Database," aims to help the public understand their legal rights, claim procedures, and compensation options in work-related injury scenarios.
The database contains practical guidance from the ordinance's legal concepts, offering relevant case studies, medical treatment tips, and reference materials for compensation calculation.
It covers various occupations, including construction workers, cleaners, delivery riders, and office staff. It also covers common workplace injuries, such as falls, burns, back pain, and hearing loss.
The online resource, the first of its kind in Hong Kong, was developed by lawyers in the financial hub and was launched by the legal service matching platform, HKFindLawyer.com.
"Our goal is to help workers understand their rights clearly when faced with a work injury, without being misled or confused by insurers," a spokesperson for HKFindLawyer.com said in a statement.
"By identifying their occupation and type of injury, they can easily see the next steps for compensation."
