Devra Goldstein’s attorney says, "Today marks yet another dark day in the history of the city of New Orleans’ beleaguered Department of Safety and Permits and Cantrell Administration."
Goldstein is the "only credentialed commercial building inspector employed by the city of New Orleans," according to attorney Justin Schmidt.
WDSU asked the city of New Orleans if Goldstein was terminated, they have not returned our request for comment at this time.
Schmidt adds: "What is most disturbing regarding the items that Inspector Goldstein has identified as problematic is the fact that the department’s leadership has continued to turn a blind eye to the underlying deficiencies in the Department of Safety and Permits and has waged this vicious and vindictive attack against one of the department’s preeminent inspectors, who merely has the safety of the citizens of New Orleans at heart."
