Top Trump Lawyer Accused of Saying ‘F– You’ to Courts

Since the first weeks of his second administration, President Donald Trump has placed his former criminal defense attorney Emil Bove in high positions expecting aggressive action. As acting deputy attorney general in February, Bove led the charge in firing career prosecutors, pressured the FBI to hand over the names of agents who worked on Capitol riot cases, and pushed Manhattan federal prosecutors to drop a criminal case against Mayor Eric Adams. According to a whistleblower who has just come forward, Bove also had an explicit message for judges overseeing deportation cases: “Fuck you.”
On March 14, when Bove was working as a senior official in the deputy AG’s office, he told subordinates that Trump would invoke the Alien Enemies Act to deport migrants that weekend without due process. Former DOJ attorney and whistleblower Erez Reuveni was in the room. According to his account, Bove “stressed to all in attendance that the planes needed to take off no matter what.” Bove said if a court order blocked the removals, the DOJ “would need to consider telling the courts ‘fuck you’ and ignore any such order,” according to the account. “Mr. Reuveni perceived that others in the room looked stunned, and he observed awkward, nervous glances among people in the room. Silence overtook the room.”
