The owners of a tenement block which went up in flames amid false claims over where the homes were to be allocated, has released a statement on the incident.
North Glasgow Housing Association (NG Homes) have once again clapped back on rumours surrounding one of their blocks in Possilpark after it burst into flames on Sunday afternoon.
The blaze, which is being probed by the Fire Investigation Teams, erupted at around 4.48pm appearing to consume the upper roof space of the four storey block.
Six fire appliances, along with special high-reach equipment, tackled the flames as smoke billowed from the derelict building, which is undergoing a multi-million-pound development.
NG Homes is currently refurbishing the three empty tenement blocks in Stonyhurst Street, creating 23 affordable rented flats.
We previously reported, how a crowd gathered on the street on July 11, over allegations that accommodation there was going to be provided to asylum seekers.
This was confirmed as untrue by Glasgow City Council and later by NG Homes.
In a statement following yesterdays blaze, the housing association reinstated that there were false claims surrounding the homes on Stonyhurst Street.
It read: "We can confirm that a fire occurred yesterday (6 September) at one of the Stonyhurst Street tenement buildings currently undergoing refurbishment.
