A whistleblower who has battled the University System of Georgia (USG) in court for more than a decade is hoping to get unsealed documents which she claims states she was forced to falsify her boss’ attendance records before being fired for refusing to do so.

Denise Caldon Sorkness spent 15 years as the administrative assistant to the president at Macon State College, which is now Middle Georgia State University, including 11 working under David Bell. From January 2006 through September 2008, while Bell allegedly faced mental illness, she said she was forced to file false leave reports, which documented Bell’s daily attendance at the office/on campus. According to Sorkness, during that period, Bell’s attendance was spotty, as he would arrive late and leave early for treatment sessions.
