North Royalton gives most city workers increases of 2.75 percent in 2022, 3 percent in 2023 - cleveland.com

NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio -- The city has given most of its union and nonunion workers pay increases of 2.75 percent this year and 3 percent in 2023. City Council recently approved the new two-year collective bargaining agreements and ordinances.

Nonunion department directors and superintendents will also receive raises, totaling about $65,200 this year. Most of them will receive 3.4 percent increases, with some exceptions.

However, the city has not reached an agreement with the city’s jail corrections officers. Talks between the city and jailers are ongoing, said city Assistant Law Director Donna Vozar.

As for firefighters, they also will receive 2.75 percent and 3 percent raises this year and next year, respectively, under a three-year contract signed with the city in June 2021.

Excluding jailers and firefighters, wage and salary increases this year alone will cost the city more than $275,000, according to estimates and pay data provided by the city.

Mayor Larry Antoskiewicz, who earns $100,524 annually, will not receive a raise this year because, under Ohio law, elected officials aren’t allowed increases in the middle of their terms. Instead, the salary of whomever is mayor in 2024, after the November 2023 mayoral election, will see an increase of 1.25 percent over the mayor’s current salary.

In 2022, employees will contribute $230 a month for family healthcare coverage or $88 a month for individual coverage, up from $220 and $83 a month, respectively, in 2021. Employee...
