NorthBay Healthcare wage-and-hour $7.5M class action settlement - Top Class Actions

NorthBay Healthcare agreed to pay $7.5 million to resolve wage-and-hour allegations from current and former hourly employees.

The settlement benefits individuals employed by NorthBay Healthcare as hourly, non-exempt employees in California between Sept. 25, 2014, and Dec. 31, 2021.

NorthBay Healthcare is a healthcare system based in Solano County, California. The healthcare system includes clinics, offices and two hospitals — NorthBay Medical Center and NorthBay VacaValley Hospital.

According to a class action lawsuit, NorthBay Healthcare fails to pay its hourly employees the wages they deserve. This allegedly includes minimum and overtime wages.

In addition, plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit contend the company fails to provide meal and rest breaks, accurate, itemized wage statements and other benefits promised to them under state and federal law.

The wage and hour class action lawsuit includes claims under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), California labor laws and the California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA), which allows workers to take legal action on behalf of the state’s Labor Workforce Development Agency (LWDA).

NorthBay Healthcare hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to resolve these claims with a $7.5 million class action settlement. A portion of the settlement will be considered a PAGA payment, most of which will be given to the California LWDA as penalties.
