Rand Paul has renewed his allegations surrounding the origins of COVID-19, claiming that testimony from a CIA whistleblower supports long-standing accusations of a government cover-up tied to the pandemic.
In a series of posts on X, the Republican senator said a whistleblower appeared before his committee and alleged that officials within the U.S. intelligence community suppressed information pointing to a possible lab origin of the coronavirus outbreak.
“Today, a CIA whistleblower sat before my committee and confirmed what I've said for years: government officials, including Dr. Fauci, deliberately misled the American people about the origins of COVID-19,” Paul wrote. “This is not a conspiracy theory. This is sworn testimony.”

Paul further alleged that U.S. taxpayer money funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and accused former top U.S. infectious disease official Anthony Fauci of denying that connection under oath.
“The evidence says otherwise,” Paul said, adding that the whistleblower described “a coordinated effort inside the intelligence community to suppress dissenting views on COVID's origins.”
