New York farms, orchards, and dairies would be on the hook for more overtime pay under a proposal being reviewed by state regulators.
The Farm Laborers Wage Board is considering whether to recommend that overtime pay be phased in for those working more than 40 hours, down from the current 60 hours.
If the board, which meets Tuesday, advances that proposal, Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon would have until Oct. 21 to decide whether to accept the recommendation to have New York follow California, Oregon, and Washington in phasing in a 40-hour work week for farm laborers.
