As part of a whistleblower lawsuit filed by two former employees of Movement Mortgage, the lender will pay a $23.75 million settlement to the United States to resolve allegations it violated the False Claims Act, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of New York said.
The settlement resolved allegations that Movement Mortgage failed to comply with material program requirements when it originated and underwrote mortgages insured by the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Federal Housing Administration or guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs, U.S. Attorney Carla B. Freedman said in a statement Thursday.
