New York City sued Manhattan law firm Asher & Associates PC for allegedly bombarding the courts with lawsuits that falsely attribute injuries to the city.
The 80-page federal court complaint, filed Sunday, alleges the firm’s owners and associates for the past 10 years have engaged in a fraud scheme seeking payment from the city for client injuries that arose from events for which the city couldn’t “conceivably bear factual or legal responsibility.” The firm’s actions violate federal racketeering and state and city false claims laws, the court filing says.
