Wednesday, October 25, 2023: Senate Confirmed Nomination of Jessica Looman to Head US DOL’s Wage and Hour Division
Senator Sullivan Only Republication Voting in FavBy a 51-46 largely party-line vote, the U.S. Senate confirmed President Biden’s nomination of Jessica Looman to head the U.S. Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division (“WHD”). Senator Dan Sullivan (AK) was the sole Republican voting in favor. All of the Senators who voted against the nomination were Republicans. Two Republicans – Tim Scott (SC) and Ted Cruz (TX) – and one Democrat – Alex Padilla (CA) – did not vote.
The evening before the confirmation vote, the Senate voted 51-47 to bring any debate on the nomination to a close. Senator Sullivan was also the sole Republican vote then. Democratic Senator Padilla and Republican Senator Scott did not vote.
