Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office says information in affidavit was false - KOCO Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY —

The Oklahoma County sheriff said on Friday that some information released by his office last month was false.

The sheriff's office said a piece of information in a probable cause affidavit relating to a former Deer Creek teacher inappropriately messaging a student last month was not true. In the affidavit, an investigator claimed Deer Creek Public Schools threatened to cancel contracts between the office and the district in the past.

The sheriff's office believed this information to be true at the time, but after asking the previous administration, Sheriff Tommie Johnson said he takes back those claims.

“I vowed to you, I gave you my word that I would look into it, and we would investigate it and see and come to a conclusion," said Johnson. "After the investigation, we determined these comments cannot be substantiated.”

KOCO 5 asked the office in December if it was true Deer Creek was uncooperative in the past and threatened to cancel contracts with them because that is what an investigator wrote in a probable cause affidavit when obtaining a search warrant for the teacher accused of inappropriate messages.

At the time, Deer Creek said these claims from an investigator were false. Today, Johnson also said those claims are false.

"The investigator that used these comments in the probable cause affidavit believed this to be true at the time he wrote the affidavit,” said Johnson.
