OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KOKH) — Oklahoma lawmakers are looking into whistleblower allegations.
A psychologist previously employed by the Department of Corrections is claiming multiple instances of rape and sexual assault are being covered up by the agency.
Multiple people came forward in the hearing alleging instances where inmates and officers were raped or assaulted. (KOKH)
The whistleblower, Dr. Whitney Louis, claims she reported sexual harassement and rape cases to OMES, which then were passed along to the former Attorney General's Office.
The AG's Office told FOX25 they concluded that DOC adequately investigated the allegations, and their involvement ended there.
But Rep. JJ Humphrey, the Chairman of the House Corrections Committee, wasn't satisfied with the findings and held a hearing himself.
"What she reported was that she was being terminated because she had reported rape allegations and she had actually correctly filed twice a whistleblower," Rep. Humphrey said. "We brought in witness after witness, we brought in documentation after documentation."
