TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced on Monday that Dr. Bryan Andrew Blanck has agreed to pay $7 million to the U.S. to resolve allegations that he violated the False Claims Act.
Blanck is a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine who formerly owned and operated the Valley View Foot and Ankle Center in Ada, Okla.
This settlement resolves allegations that Blanck submitted false claims to the VA Choice Patient-Centered Community Care programs for excessive medical services and for higher levels of service than what was medically reasonable or necessary for Veterans receiving bioengineered skin substitutes and skin substitute-related treatment.
The Department of Veteran Affairs and Veterans Health Administration provides integrated health care to U.S. Military veterans in the state through VA Medical Centers and VA Outpatient Clinics.
VHA provides health care services that are similar to traditional hospitals.
Veterans enrolled in VA health care have the option to receive care at the VA or health care facilities within their local communities.
Tri-West oversees scheduling, claims, and billing for Veterans receiving care in the community.
Blanck was one that accepted and treated Veterans at the Valley View Foot and Ankle Clinic.
An audit was conducted by the VA that revealed that from Feb. 14, 2017, through June 14, 2018, Blanck was the number one billing podiatrist out of 4,014 podiatrists nationwide in VA Choice.
