The Ondo State Police Command has debunked a rumour currently circulating within the Akure metropolis alleging the imposition of a traditional curfew.
The command categorically stated that no such curfew exists and that there is no security development that warrants panic or apprehension among residents. It advised members of the public to disregard the unfounded information, which is clearly intended to create fear, confusion and unnecessary tension within the state.
The command further warned individuals and groups involved in the deliberate spread of misinformation and fake news to desist forthwith, as such acts can undermine public peace and security.
It said that anyone found spreading false information intended to incite panic or disturb public order will be investigated and held accountable for their actions in accordance with the law.
Residents are encouraged to remain calm and law-abiding, and to continue their lawful activities without fear, while relying only on verified and credible sources for information.
The command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace, public safety and the protection of lives and property across the state.
