OPay Threatens Legal Action Against Three Social Media Users Over Claims It Is Going On ‘Long Indefinite Break’ - saharareporters.com

OPay Digital Services Limited has threatened legal action against social media commentator Adam B. Garba II and TikTok account ViralGrabTV over publications alleging that the fintech company was planning to embark on a “long indefinite break.”

In separate demand letters dated September 1, 2026, OPay accused Garba, who operates the X account @adamugarba, and ViralGrabTV, which operates the TikTok account @viralgrabtvng, of publishing false, malicious, libellous and defamatory information capable of damaging the company’s reputation and business interests.

The company said it was notified on August 30, 2026, of a publication by Garba in which he allegedly informed members of the public that OPay would be going on a “long indefinite break” and advised customers to withdraw funds from their accounts with the digital payments company.

OPay’s Chief Legal Counsel, Akinfolabi Rokosu, said the publication was made with the alleged intention of bringing the company into disrepute.

The company further accused Garba of promoting an alternative digital wallet, Crowwe Wallet, alongside the alleged false claims about OPay.

“It is our position that your conduct is malicious, deliberate and calculated to damage our company's goodwill, reputation and commercial interest,” the letter to Garba stated.
