It’s been a year since OpenAI whistleblower Suchir Balaji died in what local officials determined to be a suicide.

Now his mother, Poornima Ramarao, is using his death as inspiration to attempt to ensure the giant San Francisco-based artificial-intelligence company sticks to its mission of making sure the technology benefits humanity.
