The mother of OpenAI whistleblower Suchir Balaji, who was found dead in his San Francisco apartment in November last year, has shared a picture from the day of his death.

She alleged “murder conspiracy over long-term planning and watching Balaji."

This is contrary to the autopsy report, which was made public earlier in February, which claimed death by suicide and ruled out any foul play.

Balaji’s parents had then flagged a number of discrepancies and expressed their disagreement with the report while still conducting their own investigation.

Shortly before his death, the 26-year-old raised ethical questions over OpenAI’s operations after quitting the massive artificial intelligence company.

What did Balaji’s mother say?

Poornima Rao posted the image on X on Wednesday, claiming it was taken from the residential building’s liaison office via CCTV.

Suchir Balaji is seen in the photo holding a brown paper bag, which she said was his dinner, while he waits for a lift.

Rao stated that even after viewing this video, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) labelled her son as depressed and concluded that his death was a suicide.
