The fight to ensure justice and closure into the mysterious death of 26-year-old Suchir Balaji, OpenAI researcher turned whistleblower, goes on as his parents have shared fresh evidence related to toxicology and radiology tests done on the victim.

According to Suchir Balaji’s parents, the latest radiology report of the victim shows his skull riddled with two bullets, and a toxicology report indicates he was heavily under the influence of alcohol and GHB (“date rape drug”) at the time of his demise.

Through a fresh set of tweets made on Friday, Suchir’s mother Poornima Rao has insinuated that he was allegedly stupefied with alcohol and drugs in his apartment and later overpowered by unknown persons, who then killed him. She has also demanded a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) probe into the case and tagged its newly appointed director, Kash Patel.

Suchir’s body was found on November 26 last year, with a gunshot wound, in his apartment in San Francisco. The local police have closed the case, terming it as a suicide because of a lack of circumstantial evidence at the crime scene indicating foul play.

However, Suchir’s parents have alleged foul play in the case, accusing the local San Francisco Police Department of overlooking crucial evidence in the apartment and also a botched-up forensic investigation. Suchir’s whistleblowing activities against OpenAI back in 2024 have also raised concerns for his parents who think he might have been targeted because of that.
