(WJAR) — The United States Attorney’s Office said that Journey to Hope Health and Healing and its former CEO, Kenneth L. Richardson, Jr., agreed to pay $102.2 million to settle fraud allegations.
The company was accused of submitting false claims to Rhode Island's Medicaid program and Medicare for substance abuse treatment it never provided.
The false claims were filed between 2015 and 2021.
Two whistle-blowers in the case will receive just over a million dollars each.
