Orange Woman Sentenced to Prison for Health Care Fraud ... - TAPinto.net

ORANGE, NJ - Tiffany Marsh, a 45-year-old resident of Orange, New Jersey, has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for her involvement in defrauding insurers through the submission of fraudulent claims for chiropractic services that were never provided. The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger on June 14, 2023, in Newark federal court.

Marsh, a medical billing professional, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud before U.S. District Judge Claire C. Cecchi. Court documents and statements reveal that Marsh, working for the chiropractors implicated in the case, submitted false claims to two employer-provided health insurance plans. These claims falsely asserted that individuals with employer-provided health insurance had incurred out-of-network medical costs for chiropractic services. As a result, the insurance plans issued reimbursement checks to the employees, who then paid Marsh a portion of the reimbursements in cash. The fraudulent scheme caused the victim health insurance plans to suffer losses of approximately $334,000. See Related Story

In addition to the prison sentence, Judge Cecchi sentenced Marsh to three years of supervised release and ordered her to pay $334,837 in restitution to the affected insurance plans.
