Nnamdi Emeh, whistleblower who exposed corruption, extrajudicial killing and traffikcing in the Nigeria Police Force, may spend Christmas and the next four months behind bars after his case at the Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State, was adjourned to April 14, 2026, FIJ can report.
Emeh, an IT consultant with the Anambra State Rapid Response Squad, has been detained since March 2023 over charges linked to an anonymous leak exposing corruption, extrajudicial killings, and organ harvesting by Nigerian police officers.

Despite being granted bail in May 2023 and a court order for release in May 2024, he remains in custody at Awka Correctional Centre, said Blueprint for Free Speech, a non-profit charity based in Australia that works internationally to promote the right to freedom of expression and protection of whistleblowers..
At his latest court appearance on December 9, presided over by Evelyn Anyadike, Emeh’s lawyer Justus Ijeoma reminded the court that the bail granted by a previous judge had not been honoured.
The court adjourned the case to April 2026, instructing the prosecution to produce all witnesses at the next hearing and effectively extending his detention for another four months.
Emeh’s case has drawn international attention, particularly after reports in October that a weapon was smuggled into the prison with instructions to provoke a fight and target him.
