An undocumented construction worker was awarded $650,000 in damages after US Department of Labor attorneys convinced a federal jury in Boston that his employer had reported the worker to law enforcement authorities following an injury.
A jury Tuesday found Tara Construction Inc. of Boston and Chief Executive Officer Pedro Pirez had retaliated against the worker, Jose Martin Paz Flores, who was injured in a fall from a ladder at a Boston construction site. That accident in March 2017 prompted an OSHA inspection of Tara.
