An Overland Park chiropractor pleaded guilty to federal health care fraud charges Thursday after she submitted false insurance claims, collecting over $91,000.
Kenya Laser, 36, pleaded guilty to five counts of health care fraud in federal court Thursday, according to a news release from Candice Jamoles, a public affairs specialist for the U.S. Department of Justice.
According to an information document filed in federal court on July 31, Laser was listed as the owner and operator of Laser Chiropractic LLC.
Between March 2022 and March 2025, Laser, an enrolled provider with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, submitted several false claims to the insurance company in order to receive payments for services that were not provided, Jamoles said.
Laser used an individual’s information to bill for services between October 2024 and March 2025, “knowing that individual had never utilized Laser for treatment,” Jamoles said.
The chiropractor could face up to 10 years in prison without parole for the charges, Jamoles said.
Throughout the course of the incident, Laser collected over $91,000 for the claims, the court document said.
Laser’s chiropractor license remained active in Kansas as of Thursday, according to the Kansas Board of Healing Arts. She has no other actions on her license record.
A sentencing hearing for Laser has not been set, Jamoles said.
