Pennsylvania officials are questioning the Department of Homeland Security’s claim that thousands of non-citizens are registered to vote in the Commonwealth.
In a letter to DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin this week, Secretary of State Al Schmidt wrote that the department has not identified its methodology or what data it relied on in reaching the conclusion that there are more than 14-thousand potential non-citizens illegally registered to vote in Pennsylvania. He added that “past analyses of voter lists have relied on faulty methodologies that can lead to inaccurate results and false claims about the citizenship status of eligible voters.”
Schmidt asked DHS to evaluate its claims and provide a document explaining the methodology and data sources.
