Bilyonaryo gaming tycoon Charlie “Atong” Ang is turning the tables on a former employee who implicated him in the disappearance and alleged killing of 34 cockfighting enthusiasts, claiming the whistleblower tried to extort P300 million from him.
On Thursday (July 3), Ang filed a criminal complaint before the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office against Julie Patidongan and Alan Bantiles for conspiracy to commit attempted robbery, grave coercion, grave threats, grave slander, and incriminating innocent persons.
Patidongan, who goes by the alias “Dodong,” was Ang’s longtime farm manager. Bantiles allegedly acted as the middleman in Patidongan’s supposed extortion attempt.
Ang filed the complaint a day after Patidongan’s exclusive interview with GMA Network, where he accused Ang of masterminding the cockfighting enthusiasts’ disappearance and named socialite Gretchen Barretto as someone who allegedly knew what happened to the victims.
In his 29-page affidavit, Ang said he had financially helped Patidongan after he was tagged as a suspect in the missing sabungeros case, even as Patidongan maintained his innocence at the time.
Ang alleged that in 2023, Patidongan met with his security aide, Rogelio Borican Jr., to plot his kidnapping and murder, with the intent of extorting ransom money from his family and robbing his homes.
